It is Happening !!!!!

Frown      It sad to say that results asking if anyone wanted to keep this site alive was dismal.   Only heard from Roland Lemay.   Therefore, I decided to no longer post to this blog or website.

I am sending out invitations to all classates who have an email address to join me on facebook.  I have also established a SHA '59 group where  everything I was trying to do here can carry on.  Hope to see you as part  of the new group and information center  on facebook.

The End is Near !!!!

Since December 10th, there hasn't been one sign on to the website where a counter keeps track.  There has also been no comments about the blog whether it should live or die.

Should I put the blog & the SHA 59 website to rest?  Am I wasting my time and money?  If not comments are received by the end of the month, then I will have no alternative but to shut everything down.

     WHAT SHOULD I DO????

Repost of a comment I missed

Tuesday, 3 November 2009 - 9:00 AM EST

Name: "Roland"
E-Mail: Vendeur40@aol.com

Hello everyone.,  Thought it was time to get in touch.  Hopefully winter is on the way and everyone is prepared for it.  My wife and I have had a bad cold, but we'll get over it, no need for flowers or candy, LOL.

Take care.  Roland and Mary, Maine

Disappointed !!

I'm very disappointed as to the use of this blog and the website.   My original intention was to have a site for and by the SHA '59 Classmates.  Paticipation is almost no existing.

I am therefore asking everyone who logs on to leave a comment as to how oftem they check the blog or website.  I would also be open to ideas and suggestion for content that would make the blog or website more compelling.  Lack of interst will result in the termination of both, which is something I don't what to do.  This should be an important resource for all aout of area classmates.  Please give me your support.

Medical Announcement

As I indicated in the last blog posting,  I thought this would be a good venue to post articles when we have an ailing classmate.

I just recently learned that Ernie Noury was discovered to have a major blockage in his left carotid artery.    This Wednesday, he will undergo a medical procedure to correct the restriction.  He will be  spending two days in the hospital pending no complications.

You might want to remember him in your prayers or a "get well"  message via email.   urnenu@live.com

Where Do We Go Froim Here ??

Activity on this blog & website is it's life blood.  As our 50th reunion has come and gone, new items of interest need to start appearing here.

Here are some of my ideas:- As in the past, we will continue with the obit section but I think the wives or significant others should be added.  To this list we add hospitalizations or serious health conditions for which visits, get well wishes & prayer could evolve.

Then on the good side, how about a birthday, anniverary, or even a reward or achievement be announced.  Any photo's you wish to share?

What are your ideas?  How about letting me know some of things of interest, so they can be posted.  Blog & website will stay alive only with your help.

Available by Request
Mood:  happy

The Class locator file is almost ready for dispersement.  We feel that privcy issues can be overcome by not posting it here.  It will be available in two forms, an .XLS or a .DOC file.  It is your choice, just let us know which you prefer.

I am also making music from the reunion - "Top 50 song Hits of both"58 & '59" available on CD.  These songs are available in MP3 format only.  If you need then in any other format, we can reccomend appropriate software for conversion & burning if needed.

New addition to Blog & Website

I want to say that the reunion appears to have been a very successful event.  I think it important to state at this time that it was the majority concensus that this Blog and Website continue.  I can only do that with your co-operation in supplying me with News of interest or photos.

I would like to announce at this time that I have added several photo albums for posting of pictures of interest by catagory & contributor.  You can view posted pictures at any time.   If anyone elso wishes to share their photo with the class, (the ones you may have taken), feel free to send them to me and they will be posted.

The photos in the album can be downloaded by just right clicking on the large phot of choice and chosing " save picture as".

NEWS about another Classmate

As I have stated many times, I hope to keep this blog alive even after the reunion.  It can be a central location where news about each other can be found.  Today, I receive an email from Russ Renaud That I would like to share whith everyone.

Hello Jean Louis

Sorry about the late response, Jean. I do have the link and I had e-mailed George Lemay why I could not attend. I also will not be available for the live webcast but was told it is available for 90 days, so I will download it later. I recently had a heart transplant and am recovering and into rehab. It will be at least 8-10 months before I will be able to travel by air any distance. The heart is strong, but I have had other complications (anti-rejection medication reactions, infection in the sternum from the operation) but it has been corrected and I have started monitored rehab at the transplant hospital. God has been good to me.

Say hi to all our classmates for me and my thoughts will be with all of you.  Russ Renaud

If anyone wishes to email hime his addy is  rrenaud@hondo.net

Latest Update on Ray Ouillette
Here is the latest info I have of Ray Ouillette.  Just got off the phone with Ben Barrette's wife.  And she asked that this info be passed on to the class. I think it would be appropriate to attend the wake as a group as we did for Bob Rouleau.
The wake is being held on Monday (10th Aug) at Heroux Funeral Home located at 1042 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. fro 4PM to 9PM.  The funeral mass at 9am at St Theresa's Church ,18 Baltic St (also corner of Mendon & US #1) South Attleboro, MA 02703-7599  (508) 761-8111  Burial will then be at Notre Dame Cemetery off of Daggart Ave in Pawtucket,RI.
Cause of death is suspected to be cardiac, however exact cause will not be known till after the autopsy.

Sad News

We received a call last evening from Don Gillis who informed us that another of our classmates has passed on.

Ray Ouillette apparently arrived in RI yesterday to visit with family & then attend the reunion on the 15th.  However, something happened and he died.  No details are yet available.  More information to be posted as it becomes available.

Glitch Found

I have just discovered a glitch with the website that I have no control over.  If you experience problems accessing any of the website pages, please let me know.

I have McAffee Site Advisor running on my computer and it refuses to let me view the "In the Beginning, Then, and Now" page.  It s says the page may be seeking to gather information.  The website doesn't have any scripts associated with it.  Therfore, it is computer safe.

Memoribilia Collection

I'm still planning to produce a DVD with all the photos that have been submitted.  To date the only contributors have been Ernie Noury & Don Gillis.   I still hope that there will be more submissions before I assemble the photos for release.  I will be taking a lot of pics at the reunion and hope that everyone who takes any photos will share them so all may enjoy.

The finished DVD will be made available to anyone who ASK for one.  If you have the desire for one let me know.  This goes for all wether they attend the reunion or not.  I can't do this without your help.

Chowder & Clam Cakes

I believe that a little clearification iis in order about the chowder & clamcake function we will be having on August 16th.  As previously stated, there is no charge for this event.  The no charge is for both any classmate and their significant other regardless whether they paid to attend the Saturday function or not.  In this way, we wish to exclude another reason as to why some may not be able to attend our 50th year reunion get-together.
We still would like to have some sort of number as to how many plan to attend this FREE event.  The food suppliers need a count.  If you have not yet responded, we urge you to contact George Lemay with a headcount at [401] 725-8443 or via email at glemay6@cox.net
Hope to see you all there !!

If your looking, George ....... see it's fixed    LOL

Latest Reunion Update

We held a finalization meeting on Tuesday evening at George Lemay's home.   The following was on the agenda:-

 a)  the contacting of Gerald Proulx, who we knew as Brother Clarence.  He is now living in Old Orchard Beach, Maine and it looks at this time that he will be attending our reunion.

 b) the selection of food that will be served at the affair.  There will be three salads, three entrees which will include a fish, pork, and chicken dishes plus the prime beef au jus cutting station.  Desert tray will contant  miniture pastries.  Of course, the usuals like, freshly baked rolls, butter, coffee (reg & decaf) and tea.

c) Lastly, we dicussed how to contact those classmates who have not acknowledged the last mail sent to them in April.  This is important because they might not know of the other events that were planed and now confirmed.  Besides the reunion on Saturday August 15th, we are having chowder & clamcakes at St. Thomas Council K of C in Valley Falls, the following day (Sunday Aug.16th starting at 1pm).  There will be no charge for this event.  It is our hope that those classmate who can't make the Saturday event  can come to join us.

We are also going to have something very unique.  It should be of interest to our out of town classmate who can't attend.  The Saturday event At Johnson & Wales In will be podcasted.  I will be announcing the website shortly before the reunion.  At this time, I think the podcast will be recorded and CD's available at a nominal fee at the event.
